UBITECH and UBITECH ENERGY at the kick-off of the ODEON Innovation Action on federated data and intelligence orchestration and sharing for Digital Energy transition

UBITECH and UBITECH ENERGY participate at the kick-off meeting hosted by ETRA (January 9 & 10, 2024) in Valencia, Spain of the ODEON Innovation Action, officially started on January 1st, 2024. The project is funded by the European Commission (Grant Agreement No. 101136128) and spans on the period January 2024 – December 2027. ODEON is conceived under the main principle that the envisaged Digital and Green Transition can only be realized through the creation of an inclusive ecosystem of stakeholders characterized by the integration of a mesh of Data, Intelligence, Service and Market flows, jointly enabling the resilient operation of the energy system under increased RES integration and effective orchestration of flexibility offered by the wealth of distributed energy, building and mobility flexible assets residing at the edges of the system, across prosumers’ premises and LEC boundaries.

ODEON introduces a sound, reliable, scalable and openly accessible federated technological framework (i.e. ODEON Cloud-Edge Data and Intelligence Service Platform and corresponding Federated Energy Data Spaces. AI Containers, Smart Data/AIOps orchestrators) for the delivery of a wealth of services addressing the complete life-cycle of Data/AIOps and their smart spawn in federated environments and infrastructures across the continuum. It will integrate highly reliable and secure federated data management, processing, sharing and intelligence services, enabling the energy value chain actors and 3rd parties to engage in data/intelligence sharing, towards the delivery of innovative data driven and intelligence-powered energy services in accordance to the objectives set by the DoEAP. ODEON results will be extensively validated in 5 large-scale demonstration sites in Greece, Spain, France, Denmark and Ireland involving all required value chain actors, diverse assets, heterogeneous grid and market contexts, and multi-variate climatic and socio-economic characteristics to support its successful replication and market uptake.

Within ODEON, UBITECH drives the elaboration on the project’s foundations, resulting in the documentation of the project’s concept, the definition of the ODEON Minimum Viable Product (MVP), the documentation of the requirements stemming from the end-users as actors and perspective customers of ODEON, and the design of the architecture and define the specifications for the technology development and integration activities of the project.

On the technology development side, UBITECH will deliver the Vulnerability Assessment Engine, for the continuous assessment of cyber security risks and threats. The assessment per federated environment will not be publicly published, in order not to expose the weaknesses of edge/ server deployments to the whole network. Instead, the calculated risk index will be written to a permissioned ledger in an encrypted manner, so that other stakeholders are made aware of these when they would like to engage with the services provided. This task will also configure the Intrusion Detector for safeguarding the ODEON solution against external attacks and applying the necessary prevention measures.

On the other side, UBITECH ENERGY is responsible for the demonstrators characterization and landscaping regarding energy and data assets, along with needs for their enrichment, while analysing the relevant socio-economic, regulatory and organizational contexts and barriers, as well as for the definition of a concrete strategy for the exploitation of the project’s tangible and intangible results, including: i) definition and analysis of the targeted markets for the project KERs; ii) analysis and continuous monitoring of the competition in each market; iii) definition of monetization routes for all KERs; and iv) preparation of individual/clustered exploitation plans defining roles and responsibilities, ownership and IPR protection measures, supply chain management and partnerships, sales mix (including pricing policy, distribution and sales channels), operations setup, branding and marketing plan, while delivering financial projections for the commercialization phase.
