AROGI: new Cypriot-funded research project on smart autonomous robotic deliveries

UBITECH team drives the activities of the AROGI: “Smart Autonomous RObotic Deliveries for Small LoGIstics” action funded under the Research in Enterprises programme (RIF PROPOSAL NUMBER: ENTERPRISES/0223/Sub-Call1/0117) – that is part of the Research and Innovation Foundation‘s RESTART Programmes for Research, Technological Development and Innovation of the Republic of Cyprus.

The 24-month AROGI project, spanning the period December 2023 – November 2025, proposes a new, cost-effective, robotic indoor transport system that will be especially suited for wholesalers for pharmaceuticals, small residences, hotels, supermarkets/warehouses, and other small semi-structured buildings. AROGI will automate the transport process and free the workforce for tasks that entail higher added value. To this end, we will develop AROGI, a modular, adaptable hardware and software system, comprising autonomous transport robots that will be coordinated by an intuitive, flexible, Task Management System (TMS).

AROGI will employ novel sensor technology and optimized TMS software to provide the most cost-effective and fastest to install solution and lower the transportation costs by 50%-80%. The TMS will be easily interfaced with intra-logistics software to automate the whole value chain from the back end to the customer/patient point. In addition, the proposed system shall increase the service quality by providing traceability during delivery and controlled environmental conditions, which are especially useful for hospitals, hotels, and the food industry.
