UBITECH ENERGY participates at the kick-off of the DATA CELLAR Innovation Action on data hub for the creation of energy communities at local level

UBITECH ENERGY participated at the virtual kick-off meeting hosted by RINA-C (June 13-14, 2022) of the DATA CELLAR Innovation Action, officially started on June 1st, 2022. The project is funded by European Commission under Horizon Europe Programme (Grant Agreement No. 101069694) and spans on the period June 2022 – December 2025. DATA CELLAR aims to create a public energy dataspace that will support the creation, development and management of local energy communities in EU. Such dataspace will be easy to be populated (also via an innovative rewarded private metering approach) and easy to interact with, also guaranteeing a smooth integration with other EU energy dataspaces and providing to LEC stakeholders services and tools for developing their activities.

UBITECH Energy presents FARCROSS at InnoGrid 2022

UBITECH Energy’s Anastasis Tzoumpas, Head of Electrical Power & Energy Systems Unit, participated as speaker at the InnoGrid 2022 (https://www.innogrid.eu/), organized by the European Distribution System Operators’ Association (E.DSO) and the European Network of Transmission System Operators (ENTSO-E) on Tuesday, 14 June. InnoGrid has been the annual appointment on European innovation in power networks for a decade now.

Successful final review for the ASCLEPIOS research and innovation action

The final – virtual – review meeting for the ASCLEPIOS H2020 co-funded research project (https://www.asclepios-project.eu/) with external reviewers and the project officer from the European Commission side, took place on June 9, 2022, wherein the ASCLEPIOS consortium successfully presented the final results of the project. The key goal of the project, that the consortium fully met, is to maximize and fortify users’ trust in Cloud-based healthcare services by developing mechanisms for protecting corporate and personal sensitive data.

UBITECH showcases how innovative technologies fortify European cyber defence at EDID 2022

With the support and the organization of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Cyprus, UBITECH’s co-founders Dr Panagiotis Gouvas and Mr. Thanassis Bouras participated at the first European Defence Innovation Day (EDID 2022), organized by the European Defence Agency under the auspices of the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union, at Brussels, Belgium on May 31, 2022, presenting how UBITECH’s innovative technologies, based on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Digital Security and Trusted Computing, Cyber Range, Edge Computing and Quantum Computing, can leverage European Cyber Defense.

Successful completion of the CYBELE innovation action

The final review and delivery of the CYBELE project was successfully held on the 19th of May 2022. The objectives of the review were to: a) successfully integrate the appropriate middleware, software components, tools and libraries in order to deliver a holistic environment for secure experimentation composition and exploration, b) design and deliver a set of industrial, large-scale HPC-enabled application testbeds, integrating the complete technological stack, exploiting and making best use of the currently available HPC and data infrastructures and combining these technologies in order to optimize the specific features of processing very large datasets; c) successfully tackle the interlinking, semantic enrichment, data improvement and value addition on existing hybrid big and open data sources, facilitating and boosting data interoperability, promoting data sharing, assets reuse and, through these, business value generation; d) design and deliver a secure, embedded experimentation composition environment integrating analytics and visualization functionalities facilitating efficient experimentation execution, evaluation and decision making, e) demonstrate the wide communication and scientific dissemination of the innovative CYBELE results to the research and academic communities as well as interested stakeholders, to promote clustering activities amongst the industrial communities and all stakeholders involved in the AgriFood domains, to contribute to relevant standardization bodies, and to generate a proper methodology for the handling of the primitive data used, and all data-related assets produced, and f) accelerate the pace of digitization and the innovation potential in the European Agri-Food sector, one of the key industrial sectors in Europe, through the efficient exploitation and business planning of the CYBELE services, concepts and tools.

Successful first review meeting for the PHOENIX Research and Innovation Action on existing buildings’ smartness upgrade

The PHOENIX Consortium had its first successful virtual review meeting on the 19th of May, with the purpose to present the main results achieved in the first 18 months of the project. In a friendly and collaborative atmosphere, the Consortium showcased the progress and the main achievements as these have occurred during the first 18 months of the project. In return, the EU Project Officer acknowledged the outstanding work carried out and provided advice for future improvements giving the PHOENIX partners the green light to proceed towards the second part of the project!

Successful delivery of CUREX research and innovation action on secure health data exchange

The second and final  – virtual – review meeting for the seCUre and pRivate hEalth data eXchange (CUREX) H2020 co-funded research project (https://curex-project.eu/) with external reviewers and the project officer from the European Commission side, took place May 18, 2022,  wherein the CUREX consortium successfully presented the final results of the project. UBITECH, as a task leader, imlemeted and provided the Privacy Assessment Tool (PAT), which presented as part of the live demonstrations of the project.

UBITECH Energy participates at OneNet project’s second GRIFOn workshop

GRIFOn (GRId Forum) is an initiative launched by the OneNet H2020 project to promote and facilitate the creation of a community of stakeholders interested to collaborate and actively tackle the most pressing issues regarding the future European electricity markets. The second GRIFOn workshop took place on the 16th of May, focusing on TSO-DSO-customer interoperability and integration-related topics such as gaps, barriers and enablers on data exchange and interfaces, data models and ontologies, customer integration and cyber security.

UBITECH participates at a panel discussion on SSI in healthcare at EIC 2022

SSI and Verifiable Credentials are the latest development in identity management. They offer many benefits over existing federated identity management systems. UBITECH is participating in this years’ EU Identity and Cloud Summit as part of a panel for discussing the integration and benefits brought forth from the adoption of SSI in the healthcare domain. Dr Thanassis Giannetsos, Head of UBITECH’s Digital Security & Trusted Computing Research Group, will be discussing the open challenge of how to build trust into the SSI ecosystem.
