UBITECH participates in the kick-off meeting of the AEGIS Innovation Action on enabling the Big Data Value Chain for Public Safety and Personal Security

UBITECH has actively participated in the kick-off meeting, in Berlin, Germany(January 12-13, 2017) of the AEGIS Innovation Action, officially started on January 1st, 2017. The project is funded by European Commission under Horizon 2020 Programme (Grant Agreement No. 732189) and spans on the period January 2017 – June 2019. The AEGIS project that brings together the data, the network and the technologies to create a curated, semantically enhanced, interlinked and multilingual repository for public safety and personal security -related big data, delivering a data-driven innovation that expands over multiple business sectors and takes into consideration structured, unstructured and multilingual datasets, rejuvenates existing models and facilitates organisations in the Public Safety and Personal Security (PSPS) linked sectors to provide better and personalised services to their users. AEGIS will bring together data owners related to PSPS issues (linked to them directly or indirectly) from various sectors across Europe, indicatively from the public, insurance, automotive, environmental, criminal, juridical, health, agriculture, etc. sectors, as well as from Web 2.0 sources and enable their interrelation and interoperation. AEGIS aims to capitalise on modern technological breakthroughs in the areas of the data driven economy, and roll out a completely new value chain of interrelated data streams coming from diverse sectors and languages.

UBITECH undertakes the architectural design, microservices engineering and technical integration lead of the project’s R&D activities, while UBITECH R&D team heavily contributes and leads the technological choices towards the definition and design of the integrated AEGIS data value chain, wherein all related stakeholders and their existing data will be identified and brought together, bringing forward the value that one can add to each other, under a seamless collaboration and mutually beneficiary prism, adding stakeholders that priory seemed disconnected/irrelevant, in order to constitute a holistic big data-centred value chain. Moreover, UBITECH will deliver the libraries and algorithms for knowledge extraction, business intelligence and usage analytics as well as visualisations to be served to the community, including indicatively Association Algorithms (Apriori), Clustering (KMeans-Partitioning, Ward Hierarchical Agglomerative, Model Based Clustering), Regression (Linear/Multiple linear regression), Forecasting Algorithms (Arima), Geospatial (Moran’s Kriging, NFL correlogram), Classification and Text Analysis Algorithms (J48, M5P)) in order to receive statistical data, and will be expandable as such to accommodate emerging needs and enable stakeholders to utilise and share analytic methods on big data for the discovery and communication of meaningful knowledge and new patterns that were unattainable or hidden in the previous isolated data structures. Finally, UBITECH will lead that activities related to the preparation and coordination of the three AEGIS demonstrators (in the fields of automotive, smart homes and insurance).
