A successful review for the UNICORN H2020 project in Brussels with UBITECH’s live demo of its policy-aware, multi-Cloud orchestrator

The first review meeting for the UNICORN H2020 co-funded research project took place in Brussels on July 12, 2018, wherein the consortium successfully presented the results of the work of the project during the first 18 months of project. The overall objective of the project is to simplify the design, deployment and management of secure and elastic – by design – multi-cloud services. This will be achieved by a) developing and design libraries that will provide security enforcement mechanisms, data privacy restrictions, monitoring metric collection and resource management; and b) enabling continuous orchestration and automatic optimization of portable and dynamic Cloud services running on virtual instances or micro-execution containers for increased security, data protection privacy and vast resource (de)-allocation.

In particular, UNICORN suggested a modern application development paradigm that builds on top of micro-services, container technology and security-by-design aspects for the creation of scalable, secure and highly resilient applications can improve the online services many European SMEs and industry. During the review, UBITECH presented a live demo where UNICORN policy-aware, multi-Cloud orchestrator, which combines resource management, containerized services deployment over microVMs and constant policy enforcement for managing optimized elasticity (developed mainly by UBITECH) was used for the optimized deployment of such a demo application.
